C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. APRIL 17, 1911. LYNCH & ZELLER. 13 min. in one. A very good club juggling act which opens the show well. They keep up a running fire of comedy patter during their work which is exceptional. Received a good hand and closed well. LAVINE-CIMARON TRIO. 10 min. F.S., close in one. Same act as presented here before, full of life and ginger. Acrobatic work is better than ever and the comedy kept the crowd in roars of laughter. Closed big. HERBERT'S TRAINED DOGS. 10 min. F. S. One of the prettiest trained animal acts we have ever had, with some twenty dogs and several cats. Put on in a very showman-like and artistic manner. For a children's holiday crowd, such as today's, it is all that could be asked for. Laughter and applause throughout, and closed strong. CLIFFORD & BURKE. 18 min. in one. Well known act that included most of the old material and a little bit new. Always makes a hit here and went today stronger than ever. Closed very well after the excellent eccentric dance. EDWARD ABELES & CO. "He Tried to be Nice." 22 min. F. S. This is a very clever sketch, admirably written and admirably played. It has been fully described from elsewhere, and the good reports on it have been thoroughly justified. Held the interest of the audience throughout and won continued laughter. Closed strong. OSCAR LORAINE. 19 min. in one. Carries own drop. Advance applause. This man certainly plays with superb artistic ability, and his various impersonations made a big hit. All were roundly applauded. Was compelled to give an encore and closed big. "A NIGHT IN A TURKISH BATH." 29 min. F. S. This is a very novel feature and thoroughly made good this afternoon. The comedy work was all right, with lots of good lines and situations, and the vocal selections by the tenor, Mr. Webb, assisted by the company, received splendid applause. The final number compelled an encore. Closed O.K. LILLIAN SHAW. 13 min. in one. In spite of the fact that Miss Shaw had a serious throat affection today, she went on this afternoon to advance applause and made a genuine hit in this hard spot. Sang some new character songs which were exceptionally good and made two changes of costume, presenting a very dainty and pleasing appearance. Was compelled to respond to an encore. Considering the fact of her handicap, this argues strongly in her favor and convinces us that she is improving her talent and hold on the public every day. AURORA TROUPE. 15 min. F.S. this is without doubt the best bicycle act we have ever played in this house, from the standpoint of novelty and execution, as well as finish. In fact, where other bicycle acts end, the Auroras begin. Every one of their feats was a distinct novelty, and included most difficult head-to-head balancing, playing of musical instruments while balancing three high on a single wheel, and other extraordinary tricks of skill and daring. The final stunt, in which four cyclists lying on their backs turn the colossal roulette table upon which a rider performs various feats while the revolving table is in motion, won the crowd very strong. This comes pretty nearly being the ideal closer for any show. KINETOGRAPH. Another Comedy "Max" Feature. Very good comedy film. GEN. REM. This is unquestionably as strong an Easter holiday bill as we have ever had, if not the strongest. It played off like wild fire and everybody seemed thoroughly well pleased. It looks like a big holiday week with such a bill as this. Flea Circus still a drawing feature Music Hall Pawtucket R. I. 3 days April 20--21--22 James Dunlevey Monologue, neatly dressed, some good material. 15 minutes in one went well Hughes Musical Trio 2 men and a woman, straight musical act, neatly dressed. 15 minutes in one, went well Keefe & Dunham Man and woman, comedy sketch, good comedy, singing and dancing, went well. 18 minutes in one Rose Pitonoff All week, going big, good drawing card David R Buffinton
