REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK OF SEPT. 25 --- W.W. PROSSER. PAUL La CROIX & Co.:- Well-known comedy juggler with woman assistant. Made satisfactory opener, winning applause throughout and finishing strong. Palace in 2, 8 minutes. (This act goes to Pittsburg) FIDDLER & SHELTON: Well-known colored team who are presenting the best act they have ever shown in this house. Their songs and talk are classy and the act has an exceptional air of refinement. Marked appreciation was shown throughout and they scored a strong finish. Special and palace in 1 1/2, 20 min. (This act goes to Toledo) MR & MRS. MARK MURPHY: in "Clancy's Ghost". This proves an acceptable laughing number, holding attention throughout and scoring a very strong finish. Center Door Fancy and olio in 1, 16 min. (This act goes to Louisville) MR & MRS CONNELLY: in W.S. Gilbert's "Sweethearts". This well-known legitimate playlet was capably presented by the players named. The two scenes which are required to tell the story, depict the youth and age of the couple. The story proved of sufficient interest to hold attention throughout and the finish was very good. Several bows were taken. Landscape and garden in 5, 22 min. (This act goes to Detroit) MOORE & FANCHON: Young man and woman in what they term "Silly Stuff", same being a medley of singing, dancing and talking. There were several good portions to this act and some were only mediocre. The performers are pleasing in appearance, but don't seem to have material they have properly framed up. Some of it could well be eliminated for the purpose of condensing. All in all they just about got by. They can undoubtably re-arrange their offering in such a manner that it will have a much stronger finish. Olio and palace in 1 1/2, 16 minutes. (This act is open) STALEY & BIRBECK: Mysterious Musical Blacksmiths. The scene represents the interior of a blacksmith shop. Two Men and a woman produce melodies on Xylophones and novelty instruments. There is an interesting change of scenery and costumes in the middle of the act which fairly took away the breath of the house, which did not seem to know what to make of it. Generous applause greeted this change, also the change back to the original scene for the finish. This act was an unqualified hit throughout and should create much talk to judge from comments heard about it. Special set in 5, 10 min (This act is open) WILL DILLON: The hit of the show, from applause standpoint. They would hardly let him off the stage. Very strong finish. Street in 1, 14 min. (This act is open) FRANK SPISSELL & CO. Three men and one woman. This well-known comedy acrobatic number was a laughing hit and made good closer. Special set in 4, 12 min. MOVING PICTURES: O.K.
