C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. NOV. 6, 1911. LAMONT'S COCKATOOS. 13 min. F.S. A very pretty opener, especially pleasing to the ladies and children. The flock of birds are well trained and well handled by a young lady and young man who make a very good appearance. The birds perform a number of tricks that seem to show extraordinary intelligence and get good hands. The finish with the burning house was good and won much laughter and applause. NEVINS & ERWOOD. 16 min. in one. The best part of this act is the eccentric and acrobatic dancing which is extremely good. The songs are somewhat marred by lack of enunciation on the part of Nevins, failing to carry his point very strongly. However, the dancing went very well and gave them a good closing hand. An all right act for an early spot. HICKEY'S CIRCUS. 9 min. F.S. An act patterned after Berzac's Circus. Use three little ponies and two unrideable mules which furnish the comedy; in fact, the way the comedy rube and the coon were thrown around the stage was a caution and got roars of laughter. Closed big after the little Shetland on the revolving table. H. T. McCONNELL. 21 min. in one. This is a very novel act, McConnell appearing in booby costume with two plants in the audience, one straight and the other a song-book boy in uniform. It was some minutes before the audience was wise to the fact that these two were part of McConnell's act. There are many bright lines and the novelty of the whole situation caught immensely with the crowd with constant laughter and applause throughout and a big finish. "THE POLICE INSPECTOR." 22 min. F.S. This is a strong play of metropolitan detective life and is well acted. Held the attention of the audience throughout and closed to a big hand. DOOIN & McCOOL. 18 min. in one. Good advance hand. Charley Dooin is a great favorite here and all of his baseball hits were well applauded. Has a good baritone voice and sings Irish songs very well, being compelled to give an encore. McCool is an Irish comedian and altogether they make a good team, holding this difficult spot acceptably. Closed strong. FOUR BARDS. 12 min. F.S. All four make a fine appearance and certainly are the goods in the ground-tumbling line, performing feats that are truly astonishing and merit the big applause which they received. Closed very strong. GUS EDWARDS' "NEW SONG REVUE OF 1911." 37 min. F.S. Mr. Edwards augmented and perfected this act until now it is undoubtedly the biggest juvenile feature in vaudeville. Everything went with life and ginger, with plenty of applause and encores. Finished very strong. KINETOGRAPH. A very interesting Pathe pictorial magazine reel. GENERAL REMARKS. Show played off in great shape today, with abundance of comedy and acts for the children. Ought to be a thoroughly satisfactory week from a financial standpoint. CUTS PAUL NEVINS. Elimination of joke about the woman barber and the expression, "I just come in for a shave." THE POLICE INSPECTOR" CO. Elimination of word "damn" wherever used.
