REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK APRIL 22, 1912--W.W. PROSSER.
CHESTER JOHNSTONE:
Trick cyclist whose work consists principally of stair-climbing stunts. Uses woman assistant and made a satisfactory opener. Fair finish. Garden in five, 9 minutes. (Pittsburgh)
HUGH BLANEY:
Character vocalist. Having played Blaney here as a "small time" act I thought he might find it hard with present show, but, as a matter of fact he made as good a No.2 as we have had for several weeks. Won applause after each song and finished strong. Olio in one, 10 minutes. (Open)
ISABEL D'ARMOND & FRANK CARTER:
A Very satisfactory variety number throughout. Abundant laughs, liberal applause and good strong finish. C.D.F. in two, close in one. 19 minutes. (Dayton)
SYDNEY SHIELDS & CO.
One woman and two men in farcical skit "Maid Mary". Very exaggerated type but a fairly good laughing number. A few places that are low spots and all in all a little better than fair. No finish to speak of. Library in three and special drop. 18 minutes. (Lancaster, Pa.)
PRIMROSE FOUR:
Easily the hit up to this point, every song going big and a very strong finish. Olio in one, 14 minutes. (Open)
COVINGTON & WILBER:
In their well-known Protean offering, "The Parsonage". Held attention throughout and finished strong. Special in five, 22 minutes. (Cincinnati)
JOE WELCH:
Had a little trouble in getting them, but finally did, and then went big. The act preceding was too quiet for him to follow, owing to his reserved manner of delivery. Quite a number walked out on him, notwithstanding his excellence as an artist and established reputation. At the night show he will change places with the Primrose Four. Finished very well. Street in one, 28 minutes. (New York City)
HOWARD'S PONIES:
Same excellent act as before. Held attention throughout and finished very strong. Special set in four. 15 minutes. (Detroit)
