REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK MARCH 23, 1914..W.W. Prosser. DUPREE & DUPREE: Fine looking couple in an excellent cycle offering. Though none of their tricks are new, they are all very well presented. It is about as classy an act of its kind as we have seen here for a long time. Made a first rate opener. Went well throughout and finished strong. Special Cyke in 5, 11 minutes. (Open) SIDNEY & TOWNLEY: Young man and woman in a conventional song and dance number. Nothing out of the ordinary but alright for this spot. Got along quite well and finished fairly strong. Olio in 1, 11 min. (Open) WILLARD SIMMS & CO.: As usual, a big scream. They laughed as heartily and as emphatically as though the act had never been here before. A great comedy number. Finished very strong. Interior in 3, close in 1, 24 minutes. (Cleveland.) MA-BELLE: Principal and six girls. Very pretty series of dances which seemed to please and which gave general satisfaction. Nothing remarkable about the act, but all in all worth while. Finished moderately strong. Special in 5, 14 minutes. (Detroit) BELLE BAKER: Character comedienne. Very clever young woman who delivers her material in great shape. Each and every number scored. She should create interest. Finished very strong. Olio in 1, 15 min. (Cleveland) IMHOF, CONN & COREENE: Two men, one woman in a military travesty, "Surgeon Louder, U.S.A.". A little slow in starting but the act developed into a rattling good laugh-getter. After striking the pace, the number went big to the finale, finishing very strong. Specials in 3 and 5, 28 minutes. (Pittsburgh) LEW HAWKINS: Same old Lew, with a good deal of the old, and some new material. At the matinee, he did not do so well, but redeemed himself at the night show. All in all, satisfactory. Good finish. Street in 1, 12 minutes. (Indianapolis) CHAS. PRELLE'S DOGS: Novelty animal act. They are made up as ponies, and did very well, holding interest and finishing fairly strong. special in 4, 9 min. (Erie, Pa.) MOTION PICTURE: Lubin comedy, O.K. "The Best Man" and "The Terrible Kid".
