H.T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MAY 18, 1914 APDALE'S CIRCUS. 12 min. Here is a first-class opener, with plenty of action. The dogs, monkeys and bears go through a routine of tricks, nothing out of the ordinary, but they work fast and there is comedy enough to get laughs. MACK & ELLIS. 14 min,in one. Singing and dancing couple of the familiar sort. Open with song and dance, each follows with a single number, the girl doing a Bert Williams' impersonation unannounced which was well liked. The tango made a good closing number for them. ERWIN & JANE CONNELLY. 22 min. In a sketch "Sweethearts." This is one of the prettiest and daintiest sketches in vaudeville, splendidly written and very well played. Held interest throughout and scored solidly as it should. PROSINI. 16 min.in one. The same big hit as he always has been, His classical numbers send him off to a good start and his popular selections brought rounds of solid applause. Finished strong. THE BRADS. 10 min.in one. This is a novelty on the comedy acrobatic line and a very good one in its way. Spot seemed a little too strong for them and they closed lightly after a very good routine of acrobatics and eccentric dancing. STUART BARNES. 23 min.in one. Sang a couple of new songs, introduced a lot of new talk which was very well liked and used some of the old with excellent results. His closing number was a big hit and he finished very strong. BILLY B. VAN & CO. "Props." 35 min. Staged with new setting, the sketch, "Props" is much the same as when last presented in vaudeville except that near the finish, it has been changed for the better and their close in one is much stronger. Ran too long but the set is a bigger laugh-getter than anything they have ever used and scored a big hit. FANNY BRICE. 17 min. Was given a cordial reception on her first appearance here. She sang four songs, did some comedy talk with the orchestra leader which won a liberal amount of laughter. She closed strong with a comedy dancing finish. Made two changes of costume. PAUL CONCHAS. 18 min. Worked in new picturesque setting, helping the act on looks. He repeated many of his old tricks, and introduced several new ones, among them one extraordinary feat - climbing an upright while balancing three heavy balls on his head. A very showy trick. Was given close attention and finished very well. Comedy went well. "H.B.B." PICTURES. Held plenty of attention this week. All the subjects were of local events and of recent issue. GEN. REM. The show was too long Monday afternoon but ran well from start to finish, pleasing generally. A change for the evening placed THE BRADS third and THE CONNELLYS fifth which improved the running order and about fifteen minutes were cut out of the show which helped considerably.
