H.T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MAY 25, 1914 HERBERT'S DOGS. 10 min. F.S. A very satisfactory opener. Good routine of tricks. Chickens and cats work with the dogs, giving the act a bit of novelty. The loop-the-loop and leaping dogs made a strong finish. GRACE DeMAR. 13 min. in one. Sang four songs all of them new here and one having some comedy talk which got laughs. She made three changes of very handsome costumes and all of her songs were well liked. Good single. J.C. NUGENT & CO. 21 min. open in one, close F.S. Presenting "The Regular." A well written story, played quietly. Nugent's ability to get his lines and points over brought excellent results. Story is interesting, held close attention and the sentimental touch gives it a good finish. Plenty of laughs and the set was well liked. DR. BOWKER. 17 min. in one.The talk on "Mexico" being a timely subject proved rather more interesting than other stereopticon lectures we have had and was given close attention by the audience. FLANAGAN & EDWARDS. 16 min. F.S., close in one. Scored strongly with their "Off and On" sketch. Some excellent comedy at the opening and the dancing finish registered a big hit. Closed to solid applause. WALTER JARVIS. 25 min. F.S. A local dancing instructor supported by a company of three and "a" colored orchestra. While Jarvis is not an actor, he has surrounded himself with clever people and the early part having to do with different persons coming in to be taught dancing lessons was very funny. The three dances introduced by Jarvis and his partner were excellent. The eleven colored musicians constituting "a" orchestra were the worst in the world but by pruning out four of the eleven, will improve. After act gets worked out, will be better than a local attraction. CLAUDIUS & SCARLET. 16 min. in one. Still the same big hit as always. Banjo music pleased and old-time songs with the audience joining in the chorus were a veritable riot. MONTGOMERY & MOORE. 25 min. Nothing could be added to what has already been said of this couple. They were a tremendous hit, holding the stage for twenty-five minutes. Continuous laughter and applause greeted everything they did. This is undoubtedly one of the biggest hits in vaudeville. GORMLEY & CAFFERY 9 min.F.S. Comedy acrobats of the familiar sort with a routine of ordinary tricks handled in good shape. Closed a late show satisfactorily. "H.B.B." PICTURES. All interesting local events were given a considerable amount of attention at the end of a long show. GEN. REM. This is a first-class summer show, plenty of music and comedy running through it with good speed and having two big hits down near the close. Very warm here Monday but the show went strong. CUTS GRACE DeMAR. Entire song, entitled, "All he does is follow them around." J.C.NUGENT & CO. Reference to showing the girl the pictures.
