REPORT on BOSTON SHOW for WEEK of AUGUST 24th - 1914. (R. G. Larsen.) "BOSTON in MOTION" 16 minutes in one. Picture Sheet. Customary series of local news events. STEPHO BERKO 15 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Pretty little girl who plays the violin well. Makes a nice appearance, although her routine might be improved upon. Went over in good shape. WILLIAMS, THOMPSON and COPELAND in "The Burglar's Union." 12 minutes. Open Street in one. Close C.D.F. f.s. Got as many laughs as on previous visits. PRIMROSE FOUR 12 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Big "Bob" Webb was out of the quartette to-day, on account of the death of his wife. Expect him with us to-morrow. In spite of this handicap, the other boys went on as a trio, and got away with it in great shape. JOE KENO and ELIZABETH MAYNE 17 minutes f.s. C.D.F. Short close in one. Olio Drop. Doing the old Keno & Green act. Going big. JAMES DONOVAN and MARIE LEE 21 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Donovan is as funny as ever, but the woman is excess baggage. Donovan's monologue, however, had the audience laughing heartily. As a whole, the act scored a laughing success. MABEL BERRA 13 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. Miss Berra is a beautiful young woman, with a wonderful voice. Sang four numbers, mostly operatic, with three changes of costume. Closed very big with imitation of Tetrazzini. S. MILLER KENT and CO in "The Real Q." 21 minutes f.s. Dark Tapestry. "A "Raffles" sketch played by three men. One has the role of a reporter with a bad case of nerves. A very strong dramatic sketch with two big surprises. A bit grewsome at times, and while it went big, the audience got restless. An excellent act of its kind, but the fact remains that dramatic sketches never seem to go in this house. FRED SOSMAN, assisted by GEORGE FAIRMAN at the piano. 14 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Singing comedian, with a splendid routine of new and original character songs. His numbers include a coon song, German number, a Spanish song, and a "nance" Pirate that is a scream. Held this hard spot with credit. Scored one of the solid applause hits of the show. "TANGO CHIEF" Exhibited by George R. Hobbs, the Millionaire Cowboy. 10 minutes f.s. Circus cyclorama. A beautiful coat-black stallion, who dances the tango, turkey trot, Castle walk, and does various high-school stunts. Hobbs has dressed his act with silver saddle and silver studded trappings, and the act makes quite a flash. Received applause all the way through.
