H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW SEPT. 7, 1914 HEARST-SELIG PICTURES. 15 min. A good set of pictures that held the usual amount of attention. LEFFEL TRIO. 5 min. F.S. Three men in a triple bar comedy trampoline act. A very good routine of work on the bars with enough comedy to keep the laughs going. Did very well in the opening spot. HAMILTON & BARNES. 18 min. in one. Man and woman handling a good line of rapid-fire talk with good results. Use one comedy song number and finish with a travesty on a wedding ceremony that is very funny. Held the spot very satisfactorily and finished very well. THE FORDS. 13 min. Open in One, Full Stage, close in One. Max & Mabel, two of the famous Four Fords. A very classy dancing act including several styles familiar with the Fords and one Greek number by Miss Ford. Their wooden-shoe and fast stepping, however, is the hit of their act and a showy closing number enabled them to finish strong. HOWARD. 21 min. F.S. The Scotch ventriloquist is doing a better act than ever. His handling of the two wooden figures and cross fire talk is excellent and he had no trouble in keeping the laughs going all the time he was on the stage. For a finish in one, he gave a series of imitations with the assistance of one of his dummies and this with a song registered a solid hit. The applause warranted his taking several bows. CHAS. MACK & CO. 17 min. F. S. In "Come Back to Erin." This is a very pretty sketch. Carry a special set representing a scene in Ireland and employs four people. The story is a pretty one of the heart-interest kind and is well played. Mack was formerly of Callahan & Mack and has a scene of the same kind he used in his former vehicle which is a good laugh-winner. He also plays the pipes and the girl in the act gets a good bit out of a ballad and reel. Sketch was given close attention and liberal applause at the finish. MULLEN & COOGAN. 20 min. in one. This is a sure-fire nut act. Both work hard and get their talk over in great shape. Coogan scores an individual hit with some eccentric dancing. The act has improved immensely since last seen here and scored a great big laughing hit. FRENCH & EIS. 10 min. F.S. This act lives up to all that is claimed for it as a sensational dancing number. The scenic effects representing a sea of foam made from soap bubbles is undoubtedly one of the most wonderful productions that vaudeville has ever had. "The Dance of the Temptress" is a weird story with a picturesque climax. The dancing of Eis and French is made extra noticeable by the scanty attire worn by both principals, but it is a classical, artistic offering and met with warm approval. ALEXANDER KIDS. 19 min. in one. and two. These clever children registered a tremendous hit during the summer season just past and were given a great reception on their return. Each of their singing and dancing numbers was greeted with loud applause. This is the best kid act in vaudeville. MME. HERRMANN. 16 min. F.S. Repeated about the same routine of magic that she has been using for some time including the "Dream Lady" which is her big number. One or two new tricks were shown. The act held plenty of interest and closed the show in a satisfactory manner. GEN. REM. This was a great show from start to finish. Every act on the bill got its share of applause and the majority of them scored extra solid hits. There was not a dull moment in the whole show and it went with a rush Monday afternoon. For the balance of the week the show will run as follows:- A Orchestra B Pictures C Leffel Trio D Hamilton & Barnes E Howard F The Fords G Chas. Mack H Alexander Kids I Eis & French J Mullen & Coogan K Mme. Herrmann L EXIT MARCH
