REPORT on BOSTON SHOW for WEEK of SEPTEMBER 28TH - 1914 (R. G. Larsen.) DE PACE OPERA COMPANY 17 minutes f.s. Special Set. Italian opera singers. The feature of the turn is the mandolin and guitar playing of the De Pace Brothers. An act that could go down on any bill. RUBY RAYMOND and FRED HEIDER 14 minutes in one. Street. Here is another act that could go down on the bill and make good. Heider is a remarkable eccentric dancer. Scored a decided hit. SAM BARTON 12 minutes f.s. Garden. The audience laughed heartily, as much as they ever did at Joe Jackson. FRANKER WOOD and BUNEE WYDE 18 minutes in one. Special Drop. Went as well as on previous visits. "LOVE IN THE SUBURBS" 21 minutes f.s. Kitchen. This wellknown act went over in very good shape here. Kept the audience laughing most of the time. JOE WELCH 18 minutes in one. Street. Welch has all new material this season. Most of it is about his eight sons, and there is considerable sameness about his stuff. Monday the audience seemed to tire of him. Tuesday he put in some new material about his Ford automobile and the tango, which was a decided improvement. A big laughing hit. MR and MRS CARTER de HAVEN in "THE MASHER" 23 minutes f.s. Special Drops. First time on any stage. Act is in four scenes. Opens house olio in one, with de Haven in a box and Mrs de Haven singing on the stage. Draws off to special drop in one showing stage door, where de Haven calls for the girl, and after a number they exit. Go to private dining room in four. Have some dialogue and two numbers here; one, a dancing wedding, being the hit of the act. Close before special drop in one, showing outside of girl's house in New Rochelle, with de Haven left out in the rain while she disrobes behind a transparency in an upper window. Finish shows de Haven walking back to New York with a very pretty rain effect. Act is quite a novelty, held the interest, and closed strong. Does not open or close in one. KELLER MACK and FRANK ORTH 26 minutes in one. Special Drop. Held this hard spot in great shape. GAUSMIDT BROTHERS 7 minutes f.s. Palace. Two clowns, a woman and two dogs in a fast balancing and tumbling act that made a great closer.
