H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW OCT. 5, 1914. HEARST-SELIG PICTURES. 15 min. Good variety of pictures this week. KLUTING'S ANIMALS. 13 min. A very pretty animal act. Dogs, cats and birds mingle together like one big happy family. Routine of tricks showy and well handled. did very well as an opener. THREE LYRES. 15 min. This is a lively musical act framed up along familiar lines with two straight men and one blackface. Play popular selections. Got a fair amount of laughs for their comedy. Did nicely in an early spot. LA CORIO & DINUS. 13 min. F.S. Do a series of dances including the Maxixe, Hesitation Waltz, Tango, finishing with a lively number with acrobatics. Both are good dancers and their numbers seemed new, though a bit long. They put over a big hit, however, with the finishing dance, closing to liberal applause. HARRY LAUDER PICTURES. Never even got started. The machine was in poor working order, broke down four times on the very first picture. Forced to ring the curtain down on the first song. Put an awful crimp in the show after it had gotten started. JOE JACKSON. 12 min. F.S. He had a serious handicap to overcome following the pictures, but after starting slowly with his quiet pantomime, he picked up the laughs very quickly and held them steadily right up to the finish of his act. Registered a hit. CONNELLY & WENRICH. 22 min. With a series of brand new numbers, this couple registered one of the biggest hits they have ever made at this house. Miss Connolly scored with each one of her numbers and Mr. Wenrich's piano medley was warmly received. For a finish Miss Connelly sang Mr. Wenrich's latest composition including an up-to-date baseball parody which took them off amidst long and steady applause. The act was a positive hit. VALERIE BERGERE & CO. 23 min. A new comedy drama by Edgar Allan Woolf called "The Locks at Panama." It deals with a story that is right up to the minute, the plot being based on the attempt to blow up the Panama Canal. The comedy and dramatic bits are nicely blended. Sketch is brand new and when working smoothly will make an excellent vehicle for Miss Bergere and her splendid company. It was received here with warm applause. BELLE BAKER. 17 min. She was as usual a positive riot. Sang six songs, all but two of them new, and scored a hit with each song. At the finish she received an outburst of applause and left them clamoring for more. WILLE BROS. 11 min. F.S. Without doubt one of the very best head-and-hand balancing and perch acts on the stage. It is also prettily staged and dressed and the entire routine of tricks is showy and splendidly handled. Act was very well liked at the end of a long show. GENERAL REMARKS. This is one corking good show that was pretty nearly ruined by the failure of the Lauder pictures to come through. For the balance of the week the Lauder pictures will close the entertainment and Jackson will follow Corio & Dinus with about a minute's wait. CUTS THREE LYRES: Joke about "Blowing his nose."
