REPORT on BOSTON SHOW for WEEK of OCTOBER 5TH - 1914 (R. G. Larsen.) GENEVIEVE WARNER assisted by KARLA 15 minutes in one. Special Draperies. Two women, harpist and violinist, in a classy singing and musical act. Went very well. EDWARD MARSHALL 13 minutes in one. Garden. Cartoonist who secures a lot of comedy by drawing sketches of persons in the audience. Nothing of the caricature about his work to which anyone could object. Each person pictured is presented with the drawing when completed. One of the best cartoonists we have ever played. JOHN & BERTHA GLEESON and FRED HOULIHAN 14 minutes f.s. Music Room. These people have just returned from abroad. It is possible during their absence that they have got out of touch with American vaudeville conditions, for the act did not seem to please the audience here to-day. COLLINS and HART 12 minutes f.s. Special Drop. (Very short opening in one) Same big laughing riot. MARIE DORR Magnetic Maid of Mimicry. 12 minutes in one. Olio Drop. This young woman is very clever. Gives impersonations of a Rube, an Italian girl, and Elizabeth Murray singing "Dublin Rag." Scored one of the hits of the show. MR HYMACK 10 minutes f.s. Special Set. No one pays much attention to what Hymack is talking about. They are so interested in his changes that they have neither ears or eyes for anything else. A hit. CATALANO and DENNY 14 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. Two-man-and-a-piano act that went as well as these sort of acts usually do in this house. MR and MRS VERNON CASTLE 19 minutes f.s. Palace. Drew capacity houses at both performances Monday, and scored a tremendous hit. Danced the fox-trot, the half-and-half, the one-step, the Maxixe, and the polka, - and then the audience wanted more. CHRIS RICHARDS 10 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. Held this spot in very good shape. WILLING-LEVERING TROUPE in "A DAY AT THE COUNTY FAIR" 7 minutes f.s. Special Drop. A comedy bicycle act something after the style of the Charles Ahearn Troupe, - but not anywhere near as good. COMMENT: Ten acts, including the Castles, and the show runs short. What are you going to do about it?
