Report on Providence show week of October 12, 1914. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. Bill this week is not very satisfactory. It lacks life and some of the acts are decidedly disappointing. GEORGE SCHINDLER Mouth harmonica player. Mr. Schindler does some remarkable things with an instrument of this kind but the audience did not enthuse very much. This may be, however, because of the holiday crowd and nothing made any marked impression. 10 minutes in one. THE GLEESONS & HOULIHAN Dancing and piano playing. I am afraid this act has been left behind in the procession as their work is somewhat old-fashioned. Went fairly well. 13 minutes F. S. EDWARD MARSHALL Cartoonist. A young fellow with a nice youthful appearance, who draws well and lands his work in good shape. 15 minutes in one. MINNIE DUPREE & CO. In "The Man In Front". This is a very good sketch and Miss Dupree does her work in her usual finished manner but I consider her support very bad and I think it is an imposition to give us such cheap actors considering the money that she gets for the act. 22 minutes F. S. WESTON & LEON Two young girls in a singing and piano act. While this act is quite good, I consider it very much overrated and overpaid. A lot of time is wasted by one of the girls playing a lot of ragtime on the piano no better than thousands of other girls play in their own homes. Miss Weston sings 3 songs and 2 of them have a number of lines that should be cut before presenting to any decent audience. I have not seen them since the performance so I do not know what the outcome is going to be about the cuts. The act is very short and the only thing that I may say in their favor is that they say Miss Weston is sick, however, they will probably expect their salary on Saturday night. 11 minutes in one. MR. HYMACK. Well known change act which is better than ever before. 10 minutes F. S. JACK GARDNER In a novelty monologue with motion pictures. This is a real novelty and an act that ought to be played. 17 minutes in one. EMMET DEVOY & CO. In a very good sketch called "His Wife's Mother" well played by Mr. DeVoy and company. 22 minutes F. S. GORDON & RICA An act of singing, dancing, talking, and some very good bicycle riding. 12 minutes open in one close F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K. While the show as a whole played about twenty-five percent better last night, my individual opinion is as stated above.
