BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW MONDAY OCTOBER 26, 1914. NINA PAYNE: Singing comedienne, 10 minutes (1) Fairly good act; The singing is not phemonenal, but whatever is lacking in this department, she easily make up for by some very clever dancing. A well-gowned act, particularly her first number, which she dresses very appropriately. MOSS & FRYE: Colored comedians and singers, 17 minutes (1) Good act, the hit of the bill; Comedy occasions roars of laughter, and their singing is very well done. Received tremendous applause, and deservedly so, for as funmakers they are one of the best teams seen here in many a day. HUGH HERBERT & CO: Sketch, "The Sons Of Abraham". 27 minutes, 2 Ladies and 4 Men. Well written sketch, and the character work by Herbert is excellent. It abounds in laughs, and contains a delightful vein of pathos, cleverly and adroitly interwoven. It is an interesting bit of drama, and holds the attention from start to finish. [W. E. Parmenter?] Manager. BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW THURSDAY OCTOBER 29, 1914. DeVARO & ZEMATER: Comedy bar act, 6 minutes full stage. 2 Men. Good bar act, comedy does not seem to 'arrive', but the 'straight' by both members well done. JERGE & HAMILTON: Comedy talking, singing and dancing, 13 minutes (1) Lady & Man. Only a fair act; Bulk of their stuff has been done here repeatedly, and the act loses greatly in consequence. TOM & EDITH ALMOND: Musical and dancing novelty, 13 minutes (1) special drop. Lady and Man. Good novelty act, especially the dancing by the man who invests the turn with considerable comedy that produces much laughter. Instrumental selections by the lady acceptable. Pretty costumes, and appropriate scenery. [W. E. Parmenter?] Manager.
