REPORT on BOSTON SHOW for WEEK of NOVEMBER 2nd - 1914 (R. G. Larsen.) GYPSY TRIO 14 minutes f.s. Special Set. Two men and one woman in an operatic singing act. Makes quite a flash and proved an acceptable opener. Might go further down. ROXY LA ROCCA 12 minutes in one. Olio Drop. This chap scored quite a hit with his medley of classical and ragtime music on the harp. H. BART McHUGH'S "DREAM PIRATES" 23 minutes f.s. Special Sets. Opens with drop in one for about a minute, then draws off to a very effective ship scene in full stage. Ten people, nine girls and one comedian. A singing and dancing "kid" act that is full of life and ginger. Woke things up in great shape and got a lot of laughs. A good act for #3 spot. FOSTER BALL and FORD WEST 19 minutes in one. Garden Drop. Second appearance in this house. Scored a big laughing hit. MADDEN and FITZPATRICK 23 minutes f.s. C.D.F. These boys have returned to their old sketch, "The Turn of The Tide." It went over like a new act, getting many laughs and a strong closing hand. JOHNNY DOOLEY and YVETTE RUGEL 22 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. this is Dooley, formerly of Dooley & Parker; working with a dainty little girl from "The House Warmers." They have a very good act. Dooley's clowning and acrobatics pulled down one of the biggest applause hits of the show. SYLVESTER SCHAFFER 60 minutes f.s. Special Sets. Without question the most versatile and finished performer we have ever played. Has more scenery than Gertrude Hoffmann, and enough horses and animals to equip a three-ring circus. Everything he did received a big hand, the Japanese juggling, the horseback riding, and the Olympic games being the best liked. A headliner who fully lives up to his advance notices. It will be surprising if Schaffer is not the talk of the town before the week is over.
