Report on Providence show week of November 23, 1914. Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr. We have this week a very fine bill indeed. Most of the acts making decided hits. All of them giving satisfaction. SHERMAN & UTTRY Man and woman in the usual singing act of popular songs. The only objection, and that a very serious one, is that they, like many others, are singing the same songs, thereby lessening their value. However, at the price i am paying them, I cannot find much fault. 15 minutes in one. THE GREAT LEON This man has one of the best magical and illusion acts that I have ever played. He has a number of big illusions and his work is very fast, presented with special scenery, large amount of effective looking apparatus. He is assisted by a very attractive and vivacious young lady, who is no small feature of the act. The act could be headlined in many houses and not necessarily small ones. 17 minutes F. S. HERMAN TIMBERG Presenting a mixture of Yiddish songs, violin playing, and eccentric dancing, rolling up one of the big hits of the show. 15 minutes in one. WALTER LEROY? EMILY LYTTON & CO. In a bright sketch called "Neighbors" in which Mr. LeRoy impersonates one of his well known Irish characters. Good act. 15 minutes F. S. HOPE VERNON As Miss Vernon's act has been described many times, it is only necessary to say that she made a hit. 10 minutes in one. BAGONGHI, THE RIDING DWARF I never heard an audience laugh any harder in my life than they did at this fellow, who presents one of the most unique riding acts ever offered in the circus or vaudeville. 10 minutes F. S. MR. & MRS. CARTER DEHAVEN The DeHavens are entitled to credit for spending their money for the production, in using exclusive songs, and for having considerable ability. They have a nice little act but it is far from being an important one. They got as little applause as anything in the show altho I am quite sure that they pleased. However, it is quite safe to say that they are getting at least $200.00 a week more than they are worth, from any standpoint. 25 minutes open in one, go to F. S. and finish with a very short close in one. BROOKS & BOWEN Well known act of colored comedians, which received plenty of laughter and plenty of applause. 16 minutes in one. ALICE TEDDY Skating bear. Something of a novelty but rather slow. Receives plenty of laughs. 12 minutes F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
