BIJOU THEATRE WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW MONDAY NOVEMBER 30, 1914. PAULI & BOYNE: Singing, Talking & Dancing Skit. 13 Minutes, open one close full, Lady and Man. A very good dancing number at the finish helps to redeem the act from a slow and draggy beginning, and helps to offset the rather uninteresting material with which the act abounds until the arrival of the dance. SAM HARRIS: Singing and talking comedian, 13 minutes (1) Talk is rather weak, much of it having been heard before. His singing is his greatest asset, being new and original, and succeeds in producing a few laughs. ALICE TEDDY: Trained bear, 13 minutes full stage special drop. The roller skating is a new departure in acts of this kind, but as for the rest it is nothing but what we have had before. The wrestling business at the finish is of course funny and makes them laugh, even though it has been seen time and again in all other acts of this kind. [W. E. Parmenter?] Manager. BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW THURSDAY DECEMBER 3, 1914. MINTZ & PALMER: Singing and Comedy Skit. 16 minutes (1) Lady & Man. Fairly good act, the singing being the most noteworthy feature; The comedy does little as a laugh producer, this business of performer upon stage being interrupted by his partner running through audience, tussling with house attaches, and clamoring for permission to go upon the stage is a bit of by-play that has long since served its usefullness as constituting real up-to-date vaudeville. It might appeal to some, but it grates harshly upon the finer sensibilities of a cultured and refined audience. STEFFY BURKO: Violinist, 13 minutes (1) Good act, her program of violin selections being extremely well-rendered and of a largely diversified nature. Her reception was most cordial being characterized by the most gratifying applause. HOWARD CHASE & CO: Comedy Sketch, 18 minutes C.D.F. 1 Lady. 2 Men. One long continuous laugh at this well-written, and cleverly acted sketch by Mr. Chase and his exceptionally talented and capable associate players. [W. E. Parmenter?] Manager.
