H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW DEC. 7, 1914. HEARST-SELIG PICTURES. 10 min. Very good set of pictures this week. Some interesting films of recent news features held close attention. LUPITA PEREA. 6 min. F.S. Very good looking aerial act. Girl makes an attractive appearance, does some showy tricks on the flying trapeze, her last being a real thriller. Act got considerable applause and made a very satisfactory opener. LEW & MOLLIE HUNTING. 14 min. in One. Formerly of the Four Huntings. Very pretty singing and dancing act. Girl has pleasing voice and they handle some talk cleverly, finishing with the double dancing number which scored. Act was very well liked. FRED J. ARDATH & CO. 21 min. "Hiram." This is a rural sketch brimful of rough house comedy from start to finish and it kept the audience in a roar of laughter. Five men and two women compose the company and the piece is played in a farmyard scene with a pig, dog and several chickens running about the stage helping to build up the comedy. Act was a big laughing hit. DOC O'NEIL. 19 min. This fellow is a nut comedian who uses three songs and a lot of rapid-fire material, getting his stuff over in good shape. Has a good delivery and kept the laughs going steadily. Well liked. EMMET DEVOY & CO. 20 min. "His Wife's Mother." A comedy sketch with a new theme in which the mother-in-law is idolized and praised instead of being made the usual target of abuse. An interesting story with laughs liberally sprinkled through it and it made an excellent impression. BESSIE WYNN. 21 min. Sang five songs including a medley of popular numbers which she used on former visits. Evident that she still retains her popularity here by the warm reception given and the cordial manner in which her numbers were received. Made three changes of costume, making her usual dainty and attractive appearance and was liberally applauded at the finish. HOUDINI. 30 min. He still remains the best showman in vaudeville. Did only two tricks, the needle-threading and the escape from the Water Torture Cell, but he worked up both of them in the same finished manner that has marked all his previous efforts. Is just as big a hit. Held the audience as tensely interested as the first time he appeared at this house. The Water Cell escape trick is the showiest that Houdini has ever presented. PRIMROSE FOUR. 15 min. A great singing quartette. Four good voices. They work up comedy in a way that gets good results. Have a good selection of songs, all of them well sung and were very well received. PEDERSEN BROS. 8 min. Straight man and comedian on the flying rings. Excellent routine of showy tricks with some very well handled comedy. The Pedersen trick is featured and created some enthusiasm. Act went very well in the closing position. GENERAL REMARKS. While this week's show lacks the class of the Barrymore show of last week, from a comedy, novelty and sensational standpoint, it is a pippan and gave much pleasure to this afternoon's audience. Should bring some business.
