H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. DEC. 28, 1914. HEARST-SELIG PICTURES. 13 min. Very good pictures this week featuring some European war and view of American troops in Mexico. Also some industrial films showing signs of prosperity from a distinctly optimistic viewpoint. Very interesting. RICE, SULLY & SCOTT. 10 min. F.S. Three men in character makeup doing a fast routine of comedy acrobatics on the trampoline and some elevated bar work. Plenty of speed and a very good comedy number. Opened the show in good shape. FORD & TRULY. 10 min. in One. Man and a dog. Man opens with song and dance, getting by with a good number, afterwards putting the dog through a routine of tricks that while familiar are well handled and the man secures excellent results by the way he puts the dog through the tricks. Very well liked and finished strong. SHANNON & ANNIS. 19 min. in Three. "A Shine Flirtation." Man and woman in singing and talking sketch. Both have pleasing voices and their singing does much to carry the act along. The talk runs to the comedy vein and secures a liberal amount of laughs. Was well liked and received a fair amount of applause at the finish. ROBINS. 9 min. in One. "The Queer Musician." Foreign eccentric musical act. Works in comedy makeup and injects a lot of laugh-provoking material while he is imitating various musical instruments. The majority of his imitations are very good and he kept the laughs going all the way through his act. There was plenty of applause at the finish. Act registered a solid hit. TOYO TROUPE. 8 min. F.S. Four Japs. Routine consists of perch tricks, foot juggling and some risley work all nicely handled. They get plenty of comedy out of the barrel juggling and the act scored strongly. WHITING & BURT. 16 min. in One. "Songsayings." Man and woman in a very classy singing act that went over with a bang. Do single and double numbers all of which were received with a great deal of enthusiasm. Both are well known for their success in vaudeville as well as in musical shows and were given a very warm welcome. Their act proved one of the big hits of the show. HARTMAN & VARADY. 8 min. F.S. Man and woman in a series of three dances. First two numbers are ordinary and met with only fair results. Their third number consists of some whirlwind dancing which brought the couple good returns. Act was fairly well received. NELLIE NICHOLS. 17 min. in One. Sang four songs all new and each one scored individually. Her songs are all of the character type and give her a chance to display her ability as a dialect singer. She was very well received in each number and finished to strong applause. "THE LONESOME LASSIES." 28 min. F.S. Special. this is a typical Rolfe act, nicely staged and dressed but not quite up to some of his former productions, the weakness being in the musical numbers which got nothing at all. Some of the comedy went over with good results but the act met with only a fair amount of success. Apparently in attempting to fit an act to a set of scenery, good results have not been attained and judging from this afternoon it is hardly worth classing with the other successes Rolfe has had. Closed lightly.
