REPORT on BOSTON SHOW for WEEK of FEBRUARY 1, '15 (R. G. Larsen.) PATHE WEEKLY 14 minutes in one. Picture Sheet. The best series of news pictures we have had in some time, including Mayor Curley telephoning to San Francisco and the new motor-drawn siege guns of the French army. CHARLES THOMPSON 10 minutes f.s. Palace Set. A finished juggler who made an excellent opener. TURELLY 9 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Harmonica player. Just a fair act for this spot. ROLLAND and FARRELL 18 minutes. Open in one. Garden Drop. Close f.s. Kitchen Set. One of those "closed in one - change to dressing room" sketches with two men, a la Flanagan & Edwards. One song. Has some bright lines, but as a whole the act drags. Went fairly well in this position. BERT ERROL? 17 minutes. Open in one. Olio Drop. Draw off to f.s. Garden Drop. Close in one. Olio Drop. This man without question is one of the greatest female impersonators in the business. He pulled down a solid applause hit. GEORGE ROLLAND and COMPANY in 'FIXING THE FURNACE" 18 minutes f.s. Special Set. A big laughing hit. IRENE and BOBBIE SMITH 14 minutes in one. O. P. Drapery. Two very dainty girls with an excellent programme of popular songs. Went very well in this position. VALESKA SURATT and COMPANY in "BLACK CREPE AND DIAMONDS" 26 minutes f.s. Special Cyclorama and Draperies. Miss Suratt has a new leading man, a new team of dancers, a new effect, and some new costumes. Her new clothes surpass in beauty and costliness anything we have seen here in a long time. The act thoroughly made good. THE VOLUNTEERS 18 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Open with a single on the stage, leader in the orchestra pit, man seated in audience, and one made up as a stage-hand. The single starts to recruit a quartette, and the four men go upon the stage. One of the biggest hits in next-to-closing position that we have had in a long time. FOUR TOSCAS 12 minutes f.s. Special Plush Set. Four pretty French girls in a wonderful exhibition of contortion and equilibristic feats. Some of the stunts are little short of startling. The stage setting, of heavy red silk plush, makes a great flash. A splendid closing act.
