H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW MARCH 15, 1915. HEARST-SELIG PICTURES. Good average of pictures, both as to variety and interesting films. FOUR LE GROHS. 12 min. This is unquestionably the classiest contortion act we have seen in years. The principal man in the act is a marvel and the act is splendidly presented. BOLAND & HOLTZ. 15 min. Young man and girl in an average singing and talking act with a little bit of dancing. did very well and finished with a fair amount of applause. LeROY, LYTTON & CO. 12 min. Presenting a sketch called "Neighbors," written by Junie McCree. A very pretty little sketch with lot of bright talk which is handled effectively. Not much to its action, but the dialogue is witty and it was very well received. CLEO GASCOIGNE. 10 min. Sang four numbers, each of which received warm approval. Girl is a very good vocalist and will meet with favor wherever good singing is appreciated. Each number was liberally applauded and she was forced to take several bows at the finish. NAZIMOVA. 34 min. In "War Brides." Vaudeville has never before had a dramatic sketch of the strength of this thrilling peace play, nor has any star from the legitimate stage given so forceful a piece of character acting as Nazimova exhibits in this play. It can well be said that the offering sets a new standard for vaudeville. The piece held the audience entranced during its action and at the finish the applause lasted several minutes. The act scored the biggest hit of any dramatic sketch ever presented here and will do so in any house. CLAUDIUS & SCARLET. 17 min. In the hardest spot that could have been picked out for any act, this couple proved to be a remarkable hit. Their instrumental numbers followed by their old time songs with the song sheet and the audience joining in, lifted the house out of the gloom following the big dramatic sketch and left everybody in good humor. It was a big hit. MACK & ORTH. 20 min. These two boys scored as big as ever in their sketch, "The Wrong Hero." In the next-to-closing spot they put over a big laughing hit. PAUL CONCHAS. 17 min. This act closed the show and succeeded in holding the majority of the audience seated Monday afternoon which is something seldom accomplished here by any act. Conchas still maintains a position at the head of the ranks of heavyweight jugglers, his act being showy and skilful, while the comedy by his assistant is good for plenty of laughs. Was very well received. GENERAL REMARKS. With the strongest dramatic sketch ever presented in vaudeville as the headline attraction, the show reached a high mark of satisfaction. It was perfectly balanced with just the right acts to follow Nazimova to send the audience away in good humor and Conchas furnished an excellent closing number.
