H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW APRIL 19, 1915. HEARST SELIG PICTURES. Fair average of pictures. STICKNEY'S CIRCUS. 9 min. Man and woman with a pony and two dogs. Ordinary routine of tricks and some comedy by the man in clown makeup. Went fair. THREE WHALENS. 14 min. Man and two girls in a piano act. Sang comedy numbers with a little talk introduced. Fair act. DAINTY MARIE. 16 min. Very showy exhibition of aerial work on the flying rings and rope by the "Venus of the Air." An excellent routine of feats which won a big hand for her. CLARK & VERDI. 16 min. Two men in character of Italians. Act is about the same as when last seen here and got just as many laughs. Their very funny argument and fight at the finish brought them a big hand. Closed strong. REGINA CONNELLI & CO. 20 min. A very good comedy sketch by Edgar Allan Woolf called "The Lollard." It is a playlet with a new theme and therefore a novelty in the sketch line. The story is funny and it is very well presented. The principals are two women and both are excellent. The playlet got a liberal amount of laughter all through and finished to a big round of applause. DU CALION. 18 min. "The Talkative Englishman on the Tottering Ladder." This fellow is not only a remarkable equilibrist but a clever comedian and in addition to giving the audience numerous thrills by his remarkable balancing, he keeps the laughs going steadily by his witty side remarks and scored very strongly. MME. EMMA CALVE. 18 min. At the finish of her rendition of "Suwanee River" following three operatic numbers, including her world-famous "Carmen," the audience applauded continuously for several minutes and she responded to an encore which brought her another big round of applause. Calve was in excellent voice and scored an unmistakable hit. CANTOR & LEE. 14 min. These two boys put over a big laughing hit in the next-to-closing position, keeping the audience in roars of laughter with their talk and scored strong with their songs. A sure-fire in any kind of a spot. ZENO, JORDAN & ZENO. 10 min. Doing their usual triple bar aerial act with good comedy injected which makes it a very good act to close the show. GENERAL REMARKS. With Mme. Calve as headliner this show is laid out to catch the lovers of high-class music and the surrounding bill is one that contains a variety of entertainment that will suit all tastes. It played out in satisfactory fashion on the first show.
