REPORT on BOSTON SHOW for WEEK of JUNE 28th - 1915. (R. G. Larsen) PATHE WEEKLY 15 minutes in one. Picture sheet. Some good news pictures, including the Harvard-Yale Boat Race and England in wartime. THE OLIVIANS 9 minutes f.s. Garden. Excellent novelty juggling act with woman doing most of the work. Her assistant does some tumbling. Very fast act. Could close a show. REGENT QUARTETTE 12 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. Two men and two women in Italian costumes in a series of operatic selections. Went well in this position. JANE CONNOLLY and PLAYERS in "A Strong Cup of Tea" 18 minutes f.s. Garden. A rather bright little comedy, acceptably played. Got quite a number of laughs. FREDERICK V. BOWERS 19 minutes f.s. Special drops. Very short opening in one. Bowers has all new songs this season, with some new people. Scored a hit. SEVEN COLONIAL BELLES 23 minutes f.s. Colonial interior. Seven girls in a very good musical act, beautifully dressed, with a little singing. Went over very strong indeed. SOLLY WARD and LILLIAN FITZGERALD 19 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. German comedian and French actress in talking act with imitations, burlesque opera, and two songs. Is a bit burlesquey at times, but a good act of its kind and went very well at both performances. ELIZABETH BRICE and CHARLES KING 19 minutes f.s. Music Room. The hit of the show. Most of their songs are new, and they closed very, very big. BILLY McDERMOTT 23 minutes in one. Street. McDermott has a very hard spot this week. Ward & Fitzgerald are doing much the same line of stuff, with burlesque opera and a similar makeup. Nevertheless, McDermott held them in to the finish and closed to a strong hand. Filled this spot with credit. THREE ANKERS 9 minutes f.s. Palace. Two men and one of the former Athleta Sisters in a strong man and hand balancing act. Dress in naval uniforms, and have some good tricks. Good closing feature. CUTS: Jane Connolly & Co - "God" and two "Damns." Ward & Fitzgerald - "My God" and "silk stocking" gag in burlesque girl imitation. COMMENT: A good show, with plenty of life and ginger. Monday afternoon we have a five minute wait between Bowers and Colonial Belles, both acts being in full stage. this was cut down to one minute and a half Monday night by hanging some of Bowers' stuff down stage. He does not close in one. No. 1043
