PHILADELPHIA SHOW. AUGUST 14, 1916. SELIG TRIBUNE. 12 min. Good series of pictures. THE LARNEDS. 13 min. Man and woman in comedy bicycle act, the man working in tramp make-up and injecting some comedy. The straight riding forms the feature of their act and with a good routine of tricks, well handled they did very well in the opening spot. CLARANCE MARKS. 7 min. Basso who was a member of the "MADE IN PHILLY" Company. Sang four songs in very good voice. Did very well as a straight singing number finishing to a liberal hand. MYRTLE YOUNG & JESSICA BROWN. 11 min. This is a new "sister team," Miss Young formerly being of Moore and Young. The girls sing popular songs and have a very entertaining offering. They win a lot of favor on their attractive appearance. Sang four songs, two doubles and two singles and introduce some excellent dancing. Won good applause and finished strong. BERT LA MONT & COWBOYS. 24 min. Six men in a comedy singing offering, staged in a scene representing a cowboy's camp. Their program consists of ballads and comedy songs and bits of comedy talk and jokes are used. The latter are rather weak, but got some laughs and the singing pulled the act through to a good sized hit. MULLEN & ROGERS. 11 min. A very good and useful acrobatic act in "one." There are only a few acrobatic tricks used, mostly built up around comedy talk by the comedian of the team. They kept the laughs going freely and were rewarded with a big hand at the close. EVA TAYLOR-LAWRENCE GRATTAN & CO. "Rocking the Boat." This sketch is an old style farce splendidly written around the mistaken identity theme and new in vaudeville. It is very well acted by the entire company, with plenty of action and laugh-winning lines and situations. Made a capital comedy number and was received with warm approval. FRANKERWOOD & BUNNEE WYDE. 16 min. "That's All Right." This team has a new comedy talking and singing skit by Frank Orth, patterned very much on the order of their former offering, but the talk is snappier. It is staged on a boat. Two songs of a conversational kind are used and they close with a short dance. Plenty of good laughs in the lines and business which are handled splendidly. Was very well liked. SOPHIE TUCKER. 26 min. With her "Five Kings of Syncopation," this popular singer of character songs was a tremendous hit. The orchestra not only supplies excellent backing for her songs, but is used for the introduction of some comedy business which helps. The boys are fine musicians and their individual numbers were warmly appreciated. Miss Tucker sang eight songs, all but three of them new here and was a great big applause hit. BERZAC'S CIRCUS. 8 min. Following all the comedy, this well known act put an excellent finish to the bill, the dogs and ponies showing a fine routine of tricks, while some good comedy was introduced. Finished to a strong hand. GENERAL REMARKS. This proved a very good show, just the kind for the Summer season when the patrons want to laugh and it went over in fine shape from start to finish. The funning order was changed after the first show as follows: 1 The Larneds 2 Clarance Marks 3 La Mont's Cowboys 4 Wood & Wyde 5 Young & Brown 6 Eva Taylor & Co. 7 Mullen & Rogers 8 Sophie Tucker 9 Berzac's Circus
