"What? Back already, sergeant? Give up so soon? I thought you'd be at least siz months longer. Oh, I know you're young but you have a nice record...." He cleared his throat suggestively. Dick grinned to himself. Promising him a black mark, eh? I have'nt given up, sir. You see we met the pirates on Io and they are now where all bad pirates go." He took the liberty to make a slight joke with the Captain seeing that he had made good so unexpectedly. "Caught them,huh? The Captain astoundingly smiled. "Immediately upon arrival, sir." The Captain looked at him and laughed. "Come,come, Sergeant, I hope I don't look like a food; for that's what you're calling me, when you expect me to swallow a thing like that. It just is'nt done in the best of society. Anyway the drug pirates which you claim to have captured committed another drug robbery on Venus a week after you left. However since you told that with such a straight face I'll not call the case a failure, I'll put it down for extenuating circumstances and let you go to Venus for another try. Better luck next time, lads." A dazed and puzzled Sanders and Matthews turned and left the room. As they reached the door the Captain looked up and asked abstractedly, "Oh, by the way, Sergeant, while you were sojourning on Io did you come across the ship "Vulture", owned by the Sarelin Lines? It's been reported missing" The two men stared at him rather blankly. "You did'nt? Well I guess we'll find it in a few days, it probably ran out of fuel or something of the sort Good day, gentlemen." They looked at each other, still speechless and left the room in grim silence and sat on their respective bunks. Jack, his face white, said, "Well?" "An assinine remark, my friend. It's not 'well" at all. How come? is what I want to know "Let's recheck. The first of this business was the radio message. Did it come from the pirates
