SAPPHO - - the magazine of verse ODE TO A CAT Luna lights the earth this witching hour. Her silver beams seek out each nook and bower; while nigh outside my window patched with light an elfin singing echoes through the night. Higher up the scale each trailing note, could such a sound proceed from human throat? HEADLESS HORSEMAN In the gloomy graveyard beyond the old grey church when night comes round a spook looks down from his lofty perch. A ghost, a ghoul, a goblin, all three, uncanny, weird; for the headless horseman of the night they through the darkness peered. A gust of wind, a moan - - a shriek! pierced the still night air.
