Saving...
January 20, 1946 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Sun nite & finally a breathing spell. We have really been chasing around this place. Seems as tho. it all comes at once. Friday nite we had more surgery & kept stepping plenty fast. I slept all day Friday except for the little time I spent reading the paper. Every one gave me heck for sleeping so long but I was so tired I just couldn't help it. Sat nite we had the usual run [with] few accident cases etc. One Dr. called in & gave me some orders a mile long & for me to plan to set up for a Ceserean & got everyone excited & then we didn't do it. Trials that make people get old fast. He apologized & all that but didn't help matters much when we had to go put everything away.
