January 7, 1946 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Here goes with same news and alot of loving. So very much love. I just got back from home. Was on the go constantly-really. I'll do my best to get up todate with it all. The cab came Fri P.M. and I just made it to the train. We went sideways down the hills and everything. Was really terrible. I stopped in Wash. [?] Dad wouldn't be home. When I got off the train it was so awful foggy I couldn't see a half block ahead of me. Didn't have any idea I was going towards town or not. Met some man on the street and I asked him how far from town I was. Only had 4 more blocks. He told me to be careful of the ice and not fall down. Finally made it to the store and Dad was really surprised to see me. Guess he tho't the weather would scare me out. I stayed in Washington Fri nite cuz the
