February 1, 1946 My dearest Carroll, Hi carling! Time for another letter to one swell fellow I know. The one I love so very very much. You are always on my mind darling and such wonderful thoughts as they are. It's something I want to think about all the time. About how happy we'll be and how very much I love you. Tonite is my nite off & is a very quiet nite. Are only 4 of us at the cottage now since kids have gone to Des Moines. [illegible] is [sewing?]. I'm writing letters & [Morrisee?] is reading. There were some [kids?] playing cards but had to leave before they locked the doors at French Hall so they just tore out. I've accomplished alot today for a change. A great change in fact.
