March 4, 1946 My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! I'm on duty & just finished all my little . chores for present so I'm going to dash off a bit quick cuz I have a feeling I'll be called to 3rd for a delivery before very long. Little things like that help keep us wide awake at nite but definitely. Got a wonderful letter from you today. It's always so wonderful when I hear from you. What a perfect deal for you to get to stay up there. I'm so glad for you darling. And how I wish I were there [with] you. Can't think of anything I'd rather have no matter where it is, just so I can be [with]
