Sept 7, 1944 Dear Folks, Things are rather mixed up around here this morning so I may not get this finished now. I hear that we are to clean up the barracks, but I'll get a letter started anyway. Possibly you wonder why I'm in camp anyway. All the non-coms are leaving on furlough so I guess there will be but little training and alot of details instead. Confidentially, we are getting ready to move before too long, say a month from now. Where, I don't know, but its either maneuvers or overseas. Even our officers don't know. Rumors are flying fast, but thats all we have to go by. I am pretty sure that the move will be about Oct 15. I'll try and catch up with the happenings now. Monday we marched out about twelve miles and set up a bivouac. This is the first time we've put up tents. Well, we had a pretty good time for there wasn't much going on. That night, two of my buddies and I slipped off to a stream about a half mile away
