Oct 1, 1944 Sunday Eve. Dear Folks, I'm sitting by my tent trying to get a few letters written before supper. I have so many to write I'm afraid I'll be writing by fire light tonight. I'll catch you up with the news now. Fri. they picked certain men out of the 263 Regt to form a Batt to put on a demonstration for the 66th Div. I was one of them so Fri we practiced running it. It was a big problem with plenty of guns and ammo. They said we had $18,000 worth for that one hour problem. We had tanks, tank destroyers attached to us besides the regular infantry weapon so we really blew things apart. We put in on pretty good I guess. At least we made alot of noise and blew heck out of things. After the problem we moved to a new bivouac are so by the time we ate and got straightened around some it was 11:00 before we got to bed.
