Saving...
Oct 8, 1944 Dear Folks, Sunday morning and I've been up since 4:00. We got up early and moved to a new place and I just got my things straightened out. We are really in a jungle this time and the mosquitoes are really thick. I'll start with last Thurs. and catch up with whats going on. In the forenoon we had more work with anti-tank mines and I learned how to use a mine dector. In the afternoon we had another firing problem with tanks. Believe it or not, the mortar squads got to ride up to the front on the tanks. We usually have to run and carry the mortar besides. Sat. morning I stayed in and gave the mortars a good cleaning. In the afternoon we had a weapons inspection then we were off for the day. That was about 3:00 I guess. Some of us then walked to a fairly large stream and took a bath and washed some clothes. Shortly after we got back it started raining so we got in our tents and stayed there. I guess that about brings us up to date.
