Saving...
Thanks for the box of candy. It lasted nearly five minutes. I also got a small box of fudge from Max R. this week. See, I haven't been starving. While I was in the field I felt like it though for we had breakfast (scrambled eggs) at 4:00 AM. A bag lunch of three sandwiches for lunch and ate supper at 11:00 P.M. Nice hours to try and find a mess truck with no lights allowed. Mom, I have another favor to ask if you don't mind. While I was in the field I got a letter or rather a card from Ruth [Gably?] & Van. It was a birthday card with a white linen handkerchief enclosed. Would you mind too much telling her that I got it and thank her. Please, even if she did get you out of bed to tell you that it was frosting. Didn't do much last night. Went to an early show with some of the fellows then came back and went to bed. Got up this morning about 8:00 to eat breakfast then I went back to bed.
