Sept. 23, 1944 Dear Carroll: Tonight I am going to try and answer your letter, that I received I think it was yesterday. I was very glad to hear from you again, I was kinda worried, when I didn't hear from you. Well Carroll old pal of my, I am getting along fine here, and I hope you are the same way where ever you are at now. You said in your letter, that you had a furlough and went home to visit your folks. You also seen your girl back there in State. You told me that she was going around with a 4-F from your home town. I guess you don't trust any of then thing, you know what I am talking about in this letter So the place you are locate at, is pretty hot place, I mean in Ala. You said that you are living in a field quite alot back at the camp. Wait till you come across here you know then.
