June 3, 1944 Dear Folks, I finally got out of camp and am at Ozark. There isn't much going on around here, but at least its not an army camp. I'm at the U.S.O. writing letters and believe me I have plenty to go. I have nine more after this one. I've been so darned busy this past week that I couldn't write anyone. This is the worst week we have had. Is it hot! The people here say its the hottest day yet and I believe it. I'm sitting by fans but my clothes are soaking wet.
