June 11, 1944 Dear Folks, Here it is Sunday evening so I'd better get busy and write some letters. Guess I'd better start from last Wed. I think I wrote last Wed. while on guard. I got along ok on guard. Nothing at all happened although I don't know what I'd have done if there had. Thurs. we worked on the 60mm motar. We are practicing setting it up and aiming it against time. So far, the best time I have made is 31 sec. which isn't bad. We take gunners test Tues. to see if we qualify on it. I'm worried about it as it is hard and easy to fail. It consists of setting up the gun, changing targets, setting deflections and elevation all against time. We have been practicing this through the days. Thurs night we had the hike and Fri, we cleaned
