Saving...
up as usual. Got a letter from Bill Thompson and he got a 15 day furlough. He is at Fort Benning, Ga. Sat. morning there was an inspection. Sat. afternoon I went to the service club and wrote letters. That night I went to the early show and was back and in bed at 9:00. This is the big news. You should get a kick out of it. This morning two other kids and I got up and went to a place where we could get a fishing permit. We went out to the lake right after dinner and tried our luck. We just had plain timber poles and a little cord and hooks. We fished for two and a half hours and I didn't get a bite. How about that. Well anyway, just before we got ready to go in it started to rain. Never have I seen it rain harder. We had a boat and had to go clear to the other side of the lake. We had to stay close to shore because of the wind and we couldn't see good enough to get far from shore. We got back with the usual fishermans luck story. It was fun anyway
