Saving...
June 28, 1944 Dear Folks, I can hardly wait to get to bed as it is the first cool night we've had for ages. It rained tonight and now there is a real nice breeze blowing. The only thing is that the nights are too short. We are still getting up at 4:30 every morning. Here goes with what I've been doing the past few days. Monday morning we went out and had some demonstrations on scouting etc. In the afternoon some of us went out to the rifle range as score keeper. It was an easy job for a change. Tues. I was on a detail and hauled beds all day long. We took a 15 mile hike that night. We were supposed to take a 25 one but they decided there were too many new men in the company. It didn't hurt my feelings any. Today we worked in camp cleaning up our equipment in the forenoon and this afternoon we tossed dummy hand gernades around.
