Feb 3, 1944 Dear Folks, Here it is Friday night. not much going on so I'll drop you a few words just to let you know everything is still ok here. Haven't found out any news as yet. So darned many guys are flunking that I don't see how they can send us all out at once. We just finished a week of tests to weed out the guys who are flunking. Rumors have it that over half the guys are flunking at least one subject. I finally got my watch ready to send. Quite a package. I have the watch wrapped in toilet tissue then packed in a glass bottle. This is in a box. It looks like it should work ok for its pretty solid. I went swimming again today. McDonald and I sneaked down. Had a big time as usual. I got a V-mail letter from Swede. I guess I'd better get a letter written to him. I was over at the SAE house for awhile this evening. We have an initiation Sunday
