Saving...
April 1, 1944 Dear Folks, I just got moved into my new outfit so I dashed up to a service club to write you. I'm in not to good a humor for writing because "April Fool's Day" sure hit the jack pot with us. We are split up like the very devil. In fact, I'm the only one of us to get in the company I am now in. The rest are all over camp. I'm in a rifle company and it looks like I'll be assigned to the light weapons platoon in a light 30 cal machine gun squad. They aren't what we used in Camp Roberts. We get about two weeks of intensive training (16 hours a day) of everything then the whole division ships to Alabama for some sort of training. After that there is only one thing left.
