France Jan 28, 1945 Dear Folks, Things have sort of quieted down for the evening so I'll try and dash off a few lines. Got a flock of Xmas cards tonight and a letter from you mom, dated Dec 8. Your Xmas card was among them mom and it was swell. Before I forget it dad, in case you haven't found that knife by the time you get this, let it go. The electricians knife is plenty good enough. Slept a little late this morning. Someone neglected to wake us up and it was 11:30 when I made it under my own power. Must have been tired or something. [cut out] writing alot of letters [cut out] they came around looking for volunteers to go on a ambush patrol and I couldn't say no. Five of us went out aways (over)
