Saving...
Feb 1, 1945 France Dear Folks, I really haven't much to write tonight. I did have a little time and though I'd at least [drag?] a note to let you know everything is fine. I never was much to write and under the circumstances it is alot worse. I managed to get in my second bath since Xmas today. Needless to say I needed it and it really was a treat. I also had a pass to one of the larger French towns. It had parts that was pretty much of a wreck. The people there will almost sell their live away for a package of cigarettes. The news is certainly good. First thing you know I'll be getting out that fishing tackel you've got stored up. I represent the picture of contentment tonight. I'm sitting by an old smoky lamp in a hay loft. It really isn't as bad as it sounds though. It was a nice warm, sunshiny day for a change. I suppose the groundhog saw his shadow. I'm truly ashamed of this letter, but as I said before, I haven't got much to say tonight. Everything is ok though. Bye for now. Love, Carroll
