Saving...
what it looked like. I sharpened it up till I could shave with it so I figured that was good enough. It was really a beautiful day for a change. The sun was out and it was nice and warm. Nearly time to go on the gosh darned guard again. These nights seem like they never end. I've had about six hours sleep in the last two days. I suppose it will be the same tonight. We are getting the mail some better now although the letters don't always come in order. I went on an ambush patrol the other night. They were wanting guys to go out and toy and catch some Germans that had been messing around. We laid out in front of our {} a few hundred yards for three hours after dark waiting, but they didn't show up. Kinda lonely out there. Got to go now. One of these days I'll see if I can't write you a decent letter. Bye for now. Love, Carroll Don't need a thing. Sure hope Rose gets her vacation.
