our bivouac started. We got up at 12:00 and left camp at 2:00. We marched 10 miles then went to work digging slit trenches (2 ft-2ft by 6ft) Boy are they tough in this hard rocky ground. We set up our tents, camoflaged them before we ate. We more or less spent the day fixing up the place. Went to bed about 10:00 and got up at 6:00. We dug fox holes and did map problems that day. That night from 8:00 till 12:00 we had a compass march. At 1:30 we had a gas alarm and a raiding party from another company. Got up at 2:15 and marched about 4 miles to where artillery fired over our heads while we crossed a field, came back to camp and I went on guard till noon. Wed. night we got up at 12:00 and marched 10 miles to a new area. Dug trenches just as before. The rest of the day we had lectures and etc. That night I was posted so sentinel till midnight. Got up Fri. at 6:00 and started a day of machine gun tatics. Fri night we got up at 12:00 and marched 4 miles to another area. Dug trenches set up tents in the dark. Some fun! Haven't done much today except get settled. We stay
