ways to music. I guess its to help get those last few steps out of a tired soldier. Its certainly no fun carrying all that junk 20 miles. The band always meets the guys coming in from bivouac. Sort of a custom. Next week we will be kept quite busy. There is plenty of work to be done. Also we are having a farewell party this Wed night. Not much time left is it. I wish I knew what happened then. We think we'll be shipped a week from tomorrow but we don't know where. As for the furlough, I guess it is a forgotten item. No luck I guess. I just missed getting some work to do. A guy came up stairs looking for 7 men to clean rifles. We heard him coming so everyone hid out on the roof or under his bunk. I waited till he left then I tore down the fire escape and came to the Recreation Hall. You learn that sort of stuff after 16 weeks here. If
