Oct 6, 1943 Dear Folks, I have a little time this morning before we go to work so I thought I'd put it to good use. I guess Sun. was the last time I wrote so I'll start from there. Things have been pretty much the same all the way through. We spend the forenoons playing games of some sort and in the afternoons we drill and sometimes see army movies. Yesterday we got off at 3:00 so it wasn't much of a day. One of my roomates is in the hospital now. He and another kid ran together head on. It knocked them both out and he got a broken nose, lose teeth, the blackest eye I've ever seen and some fat lips. Yesterday afternoon we sneaked out of drill and spent the afternoon with him. Of a night we usually go down town for awhile then come back to the Union. The Union is just a block from us so its very handy. The mail is sure coming in slow. I've gotten three letters so far and they all came by
