looked as if someone had thrown water all over us. Here is the sad part about that hike. One fellow fell out flat on his face and he died a short while later. He has nine children which makes it even worse. There was another accident at the nazi village course to. He wasn't from our Co. but anyway he got shot through the head with a automatic rifle. Of course he died. Also while I was home one of the kids in my company shot himself through the hand with a 45 cal pistol by accident. He lost the use of three fingers. Saturday I went out and fired the close combat range. It is a trail running through the woods and all the time surprise targets fly up for a few seconds. You have to fire from the hip and that course is to teach you to do just that. We didn't get back till 2:00 PM. We ate and then the gang went to the lake swimming. It didn't last long
