Saving...
Feb 13, 1944 Dear Folks, Sunday night again. Although it is another week gone by, this one was different than the rest. I've been in the hospital with ptomaine poisoning since last Thur. I just got out today noon. Nothing too serious, but I was a little sick for awhile with a head ache, sick stomach and chills. I'm fine now except just a little week from being in bed so long. I celebrated my getting out by going down to a show this afternoon. Since I spent a good bit of the week out of action there isn't much to write about. I would have played basketball again today, but couldn't I don't know how the team came out. Can't say that the upstairs on the farm sounded too clean. I thought people like that lived in the Kentucky mountains. Thanks dad, my money is holding out ok yet. This weekend helped me save some of it. I guess most of the fellows have quit studing. Some are smart enough to still pass with low grades without studing. The officers are getting a little sore about the whole deal. Some of them are even trying to get out of here.
