December 9, 1945 Richland, Ia. My dearest Carroll, Hi darling! Here's that gal that loves you so very much but abit late [?] this letter & I'm sorry honey. Your letters are so wonderful & I look forward to them so. They are interesting and perfectly swell darling. I like to hear what you've been doing even if it's just sleeping & playing football cuz I feel I'm a part of your life there. I miss you & want you so very much. You mean everything to me darling. I could write for hours telling you how very dearly I love you but there just aren't words to express the love I have for you. It comes from the very bottom of my heart and makes me feel so absolutely happy. Just to have your arms about me & to talk to you. That's what I want. To be near you always. Darling, darling, I love you so very very much. But to go on [?] the news
